March 2021 Tarotscope

Written by Jacqueline Stone

March 2, 2021

Ever since I picked up a copy of The Gentle Tarot I’ve been unable to put it down. Packed with wisdom and beautiful imagery, this deck moves me every time I pick it up. I love finding details within the images and the card descriptions hit right to the heart. I’ve included some of her wise words below as I don’t think I could have said it better myself.

I had so much fun writing this month’s tarotscope. It seems as though March brings lots of bright, positive and clear energy. Blocks have been removed. This is a time of revelry and reflection. The only question I have for you: why is it so hard to let this in? Have we been sitting in fear a little too long? It’s almost hard to relax and drop into this bliss.

Hope these resonate with you. If you’d like a personal reading please email me at [email protected].

Lots of love,

-Jackie

Capricorn (Dec 22 – Jan 20) – Seed of Wands (Page of Wands)

“Dismiss doubt and choose adventure.”

Pages always bring with them curiosity and youthful energy. None probably quite as dynamic as the Page of Wands. Rulers of fire, the wands reign over our creativity, passion and spirituality. This card asks us to remember our dreams. What are you doing with your life right now? Is it all you’ve ever dreamed about? Before you pick up any ideas around lack, let’s see how far you’ve come. What were some of those dreams ten years ago? Did any of them come true? I always wished for a big family…yet mine is extremely unconventional. I am 41, not married, live with my boyfriend and own five furry babies. While my mind likes to mess with me and say “The house isn’t the right color” or “You’re doing adulting wrong,” I truly have everything I’ve ever wanted and then some. This month take time each morning for some serious gratitude. Running water is always on my list! And also take some time to build a vision board. I’ve had that on my to do list forever and as a fellow Capricorn I promise to do my own homework. While it might feel silly it’s an extremely important exercise. While we need to appreciate the now, as the present is truly a gift, we always need to dream. What goes on your list?

Aquarius (Jan 21-Feb 19) – The Chariot

“There is nothing you cannot overcome with clear determination and focus.”

The seventh card of the major arcana, the Chariot is my birth card. You determine yours much like you would do in numerology, by adding up the numbers of your birthday. I resonate with this card very deeply. It’s a constant pull forward. If you’ve felt any stagnation lately watch all that metaphysical muck quickly drift away. The energy of this card feels like driving down the road and every traffic light on your path turns green as you approach it. A card of manifestation, you can have anything you want! Recently I’ve started working with Tiffany Gingrich, our transformational life coach of the Healers Hub. She uses NLP (neuro linguistic programming) to help you hack your subconscious and remove patterns that no longer serve your highest purpose. While I highly recommend a session with this magical human, you can put two of Tiffany’s recommendations to practice right away: box breathing and hypnosis. Box breathing involves breathing in for four, holding it for four and exhaling for four seconds. It causes your body to slow down and move into homeostasis. In this space of peace and relaxation is where we can hear our Guides most clearly. And as far as hypnosis I encourage you to find one from a trusted source. It’s essentially closing your eyes and letting the professional talk directly to your innermost self. My hypnosis tapes act as my biggest spiritual cheerleader. I hope yours offer the same.

Pisces (Feb 20-Mar 20) – Four of Thunder (Four of Swords)

“There is power in stillness and there is strength in stepping back.”

The Four of Swords signifies a time of introspection. A moment when the responsibilities of the world need to be put on a shelf, if only for today. It’s a cup of tea, a rejuvenating nap or a relaxing bath. I find that this card arises for me when I’m extremely close to burnout. If you’ve been working yourself into the ground it’s time to ask why. Is fear running the show? Ever say this to yourself: “If I work harder everything will be ok”? I promise you that is not where serenity and spiritual growth lies. The world has been put on a global timeout. While many of us have heeded the call and have dropped into a more leisurely style of life, many of us are still trying to move forward at full force, no regard for what the consequences might be. As a fish in an ocean of three dimensional realities and societal constraints, it’s hard to see the water. Try zooming out and let the stars be your guide. I ask you to get into some serious stargazing this month. Start being able to locate some of the major constellations or planets. And as you learn, start to truly comprehend the size of yourself to that of our universe. We are but a tiny speck of energetic stardust part of a much greater whole. When you pass this world and enter the next you will not be contemplating another day in the office. You’ll be thinking about the memories you’ve made and the people you love. Remember, everything in harmony is in balance.

Aries (Mar 21-Apr 19) -The Moon

Embracing the dark as means to dig deeper.”

The Moon is the inspiration for one of my favorite decks, The Wild Unknown. I found this deck when I was three and a half years sober after visiting my acupuncturist’s office. I’d heard about tarot but didn’t know anything about it. So began my journey of discovery and self-exploration. It greatly enriches my spiritual life and offers me a conscious contact with a Higher Power of my understanding. May The Moon offer you the same sort of self-discovery and magic in the coming days. When a situation seems unpleasant, go deeper. It’s just the universe’s way of getting your attention. Pain is the touchstone for growth. Think about it. If life was perfect no one would be forced to do some self-examination. The Moon also reminds me of creativity and passion. It’s got some serious Scorpio vibes. Not afraid of the dark, the Moon encourages us to dive into our subconscious and see what wanders there. What needs to be brought to light? Not only for our growth, but to benefit those around us. I find the most talented artists are extremely uninhibited. They’ve made peace with their ego and their Higher Self is running the show. What can you do this month to awaken the spiritual giant the lies dormant just beneath the murky waters? Not sure what I mean? Make some time this month for some self-prescribed art therapy. I went to Color Me Mine to paint pottery with a friend this weekend and it was the best and fastest two hours I’ve had in a long time. Art helps us drop into the now.

Taurus (Apr 20-May 20) – The Magician

“I am miracles manifesting.”

Is it any surprise that this is one of my favorite cards in the Tarot deck? Part of the major arcana, the Magician reminds us of our superpowers. We are able to ground anything in reality. The only thing standing in our way? Our mind. It’s hard being your own cheerleader or thinking everything is going to go your way if you’ve had a rough start. My childhood was a long drawn-out nightmare and then I recreated the trauma all throughout my twenties. It wasn’t until I turned 32 and took control of my life that I started unlearning all the bad habits I’d acquired. It’s hard to believe in yourself when no one ever did. It’s hard to think you’re doing it right when you were always overly criticized. It’s hard to tap into unconditional love if it was never offered. If you can relate, I offer you these tangible touchpoints. First up: animals. Do you have a pet? If not time to get yourself to a local farm or an animal rescue for a visit. These magical beings remind us that we are worthy of love. Even on a bad day when I might yell at my cat for throwing a dish off the shelf (yet again) he’ll just look at me and crawl up in my lap and start purring. Having a hard time believing in yourself? Just ponder this: you wouldn’t be here unless the universe wanted you to be part of our world. While your parents may or may not have given much thought about your creation, the universe took time and care to build you in its likeness. And when you start to judge yourself harshly ask yourself: would I speak to my best friend this way? This month I want you to practice your powers of manifesting with a simple credo: I am enough. Say it loudly and proudly day in and day out and watch the reality around you shift dramatically. What magic!

Gemini (May 21-Jun 21) – The Sun

I both feel and understand the inherent goodness of the world.”

Wow Gemini! I pulled this card for my monthly reading for National Jeweler. It’s exceptionally sunny in your neck of the woods. The Sun has a simple but powerful message: we love you, we’re here for you and you’re on the right track. Not feeling like the Sunlight of the Spirit is shining down upon you? Perhaps it’s time for a shift in perspective. What has got you down? My guess? It’s fear-based. How many hours a day do you spend in the wreckage of your future (also known as ‘worry’)? How about from here on out if you’re going to predict what happens next that you only pick up the good story? My friend recently had a hysterectomy as they discovered uterine cancer. They weren’t going to know how bad it was until after the surgery and biopsy. It was nerve wracking waiting for the results. Every time I found myself worrying I’d pick up the good story instead. “Margot is going to be fine. Until I hear otherwise all is well in the world.” Turns out my good story turned out to be true. Look, I know not everyone is as lucky, but my point is that worrying NEVER changes the outcome. The Sun reminds us to put our energy into optimism, kindness and love. The rest is just wasting time. The more we accept we aren’t in charge and thank Goddess for all the magic in our life, the more magical our life becomes. New to this whole good story practice? For lack of a better term, try a God Box. It’s a spiritual piggy bank that you can never open up. I like to crazy glue the lid to a shoe box and cut a slit in the top. Every time I’m in distrust or distress I write my fear down on a slip of paper and put it in the box. It’s a tangible way to practice letting go.

Cancer (Jun 22-July 23) – Harvest of Thunder (King of Swords)

“What would life be like if we were clear and direct with our thoughts?”

Every day I get an email from the Universe which reminds that thoughts become things. If you really want to get scientific about it, we are all energetic beings. Positive thinking has high vibrational energy (love is 528 MHz) and negative thoughts operate much lower (disease is 42 MHz). They say disease = dis-ease as the body is unhappy. Is the mind? Your thoughts and words have more power than you probably realize. The King of Swords indicates that you are in a very good spot mentally. How are those around you fairing? You are a source of strength to many people. While it might be annoying to hear Becky complain about her recurring problem AGAIN, know this: Becky comes to you as you offer her solace. Some people take a long time to break patterns, Goddess knows I’m a sloooow learner. While I’m in a space of transition or growth I notice the same issue keeps rearing its ugly head until I’m ready to conquer the beast. I have an amazing therapist in my life who holds really beautiful non-judgmental space. She doesn’t rush me or ‘should’ all over me. Instead she asks gentle questions that help me recognize I can be my own worst enemy at times. Over the years she has helped me shift my trajectory significantly. Why am I telling you this? Never doubt the impact you can have on another human being. You might not be Becky’s therapist but she comes to you as she trusts your feedback. Honor that significance. And while you’re at it, this month do your best each day to say something earnest and kind to at least one person you know. Your positive energy has a ripple effect.

Leo (Jul 24 – Aug 23) – Temperance

“By experiencing life’s extremes we come to appreciate moderation.”

Temperance always signifies a time to examine the idea of balance. What in your life is lopsided? Are you working too much? Playing too much? Too focused on your relationship? Too focused on yourself? What in your life needs to come back into alignment? I suggest that you use the entire month of March as an exercise in self-care and active listening. What do I mean by that? First off, let’s get that body moving! I recently started exercising again and it’s making a world of difference on my mental health. The mind-body connection is real my friend. Do you like yoga? I suggest this exercise as the focus is really about going within and developing a relationship with the breath. A few minutes on the mat each day can shift your thought patterns significantly. Not into yoga? Try some cardio. I like to jump on my bike and blast music. The rhythm of the pedaling and the beats of the music move my body into a very peaceful state. This truly impacts how I show up in the world. After you’ve given this a go I really want you to give some attention to active listening. As a Leo you love being center stage. Have you checked in on your friends who prefer the sidelines? Perhaps you’ve been a little too self-focused lately (haven’t we all). Each morning as you start your day think about who you are going to help in the next 24 hours. If no one immediately comes to mind be sure to lend a helping hand as you step out into the world. It can be a kind word, letting someone cut you in line, or simply saying thank you to a service worker. I have a suspicion your mind has been running the show recently. It’s time to let your body and your heart take the wheel.

Virgo (Aug 24-Sep 22) – Nine of Wands

I am persistent and I know this path was made just for me.”

Let me tell you a little story Virgo. At the start of the pandemic my small business tanked. I lost 80% of my business overnight. What was a girl to do? I start surrendering to the process and leaning deeply into the fear. What happened next was quite miraculous. I was encouraged by a friend to apply for a business loan and was approved. Shortly thereafter Totems and Tarot was born. There are many days where I’m like, “Why on earth did I choose this entrepreneurial life?” but most days I’m blissfully aware I’m following my purpose. While you might not be in the market for a new job or a life changing career move, I see big things for you on the horizon. Right now the journey may feel arduous and overwhelming, but know that this is just part of the process. I often wonder if the universe makes things difficult sometimes to test you and see if you truly want something. Show up, do the work and let go of the rest. Easier said than done, but trust me on this one. You might want to start incorporating prayer into your day. Every morning when you wake up say “Please.” Please help me through the day. Please take this burden, it’s too heavy. Please remove my worry. And at night when you go to sleep say “Thank You.” Thank you for another day on this planet. Thank you for this beautiful body and each breath that flows through me. Thank you for making me perfectly imperfect and for watching out for me. If you’ve never prayed before and it feels silly, just humor me and try it. The more we offer curiosity and wonder for the world around us the more it seems to amaze.

Libra (Sep 23-Oct 22) – Four of Stones (Four of Pentacles)

“I protect my body, my space and my identity.”

At 36 years old I found myself in an emotionally and physically abusive relationship. I was smack dab in the midst of an afterschool special and had no idea how I got there. When I finally broke free my ex started cyber stalking me. My sense of safe and security was shattered and I quickly became a control freak. I figured if I could control what I ate or who was in my space or how my socks were arranged in the drawer that everything would be ok. This is the energy of the Four of Stones. We are trying to arrange the show to our liking, forgetting that we are never, ever in charge. The sense of safety we create with things or routines is simply a mirage. What to do? It’s time to examine why you’re holding on so tightly. What is the underlying fear? I often like to take a fear inventory. In this exercise you simply take out a sheet of paper and write down every, single thing that makes you scared. Sometimes it’s helpful to read it aloud or share it with a friend. Once it’s out in the open it’s often not as scary as it was rolling around in your head. Another important realization is that safety is not won, it’s given. In order to begin to sleep at night I had to form a deep relationship with a power greater than myself. Tarot offered me peace. I would use it to ask questions. It never let me down. What small rituals could you incorporate into your daily life that offer you similar solace? The routine is not important, but it’s the connection to Source that is essential. That sweet nectar of hope, unconditional love and serenity is always here. You just have to plug in.

Scorpio (Oct 23-Nov 22) – Seed of Thunder (Page of Swords)

Regain your focus and take the leap.”

Pages always have a youthful and curious energy and none is quite as scholarly as the Page of Swords. The ultimate apprentice, this eager student has a thirst for knowledge. If a project you’ve been working on or a career objective is taking its sweet time, perhaps you need to redirect your attention. We often can’t solve problems with the same thinking that created them. Erase the words “I know” from your vocabulary. Become the humble listener, soaking up each word like a sponge. This is the time to move away from anything that frustrates you and move towards the things that bring you excitement and wonder. What is a class you could take right now that would light your fire? I’ve been doing a ton of online workshops and art classes. They are so much fun! Recently I even went back to school for graphic design. Let me tell you, I was blown away by how much I didn’t know. Keep seeking the truth. You’ve fallen into a rut of boredom or roadblocks only because you forgot your role as the enthusiastic student. It’s time to go back to school, this time there are no grades and the only reward system is metaphysical. What will you learn this month? There is so much to explore.

Sagittarius (Nov 23-Dec 20) – Harvest of Wands (King of Wands)

I am ready to lead with courage and force.”

A huge part of growth of any kind is release. What will you let go in order to master great heights? Often we must discard false beliefs, harmful habits or bad thought patterns. Sometimes we have to say goodbye to relationships and friendships that no longer serve our greatest good. While these breakups are never easy, they almost always lead to a breakthrough. You’ve heard many wise people say this and I’ll say it again: you are the company you keep. Who is in your life right now that inspires you, lifts you up and offers you support? Who constantly creates drama, initiates gossip or complains? While NOBODY is perfect, it’s important to recognize if the people around us mirror the type of person we are trying to become. And maybe it’s not about cutting people out of your life but having uncomfortable conversations. “Liz, I adore you and I’d love to offer some constructive feedback if you’re open to it.” Sometimes people don’t realize they are complaining non-stop or acting as a downer. In this fascinating new reality it’s important to give people a lot of room to be human. However, you don’t need to keep putting energy into places that are sucking you dry. Some space may be necessary. For every person who is struggling and focusing on the problem there is another friend who is living their best life, even in the midst of a global pandemic. You are ready to rule your kingdom of good vibes only. Be sure to leave the gates wide open for anyone who wants to join.
