Written by Claire Comstock-Gay, this thorough guide to the stars goes through each of the astrological signs in profound detail. Claire has been  the weekly horoscope writer for New York Magazine for quite some time and is renown for expertise on the topic. She has gathered her years of experience and research into one magical book. We've posted teasers on what she has to say about each of the 12 signs below.

Aires - The Diva - "Because Aires wisdom isn't complicated or conflicted, it can be fearless."

Taurus - The Wrestler - "Taurus is a sign willing to remind us of our very human right to enjoy ourselves."

Gemini - The Trickster - "Because Gemini is ruled by Mercury, the planet of communication and connection, its buzzing air sign energy takes on a particularly social element: communicative, charming, highly verbal."

Cancer - The Poet - "The association of Cancer with motherhood is about archetypes, not real, in-the-flesh people."

Leo - The Director - "But Leo leadership runs along a spectrum, ranging from democratic to the dictatorial, the benevolent to the tyrannical."

Virgo - The Witness - "Pay attention and Virgo can start to look like the sign of best situated, the sign with a cosmic gift or a cosmic duty, to bear witness."

Libra - The Celebrity - "This Venusian influence and love of beauty can lead to Libra being take less seriously than it really deserves."

Scorpio - The Punk - "Like Pluto, Scorpio has an energy that is dark and strange and bendy, both eccentric and chaotic."

Sagittarius - The Alter Ego - "This optimism comes, in part, from Sagittarius's ruling planet of Jupiter - the planet of higher purpose, of abundance and generosity, of luck and possibility."

Capricorn - The Intellectual - "This is the sign most comfortable working toward long-term goals, most comfortable with advancement over time, most comfortable choosing a point on the horizon and moving toward it with an unwavering certainty."

Aquarius - The Weirdo - "Aquarius offers us the feeling that every seemingly ironclad rule in the world is, in fact, breakable."

Pisces - The Guardian - "Partly because of this board, universal intuition, Pisces has a reputation for being the wisest, most spiritual sign of the zodiac."

One of the many things I bonded deeply with grandmother about was astrology. We were both Capricorns and understood each other on a deep level. She would often send me books or coffee mugs growing up that were all about our sign. It makes me laugh thinking about it. A devout Catholic, astrology was not something to be taken too seriously. But that was the thing I LOVED about Grandma. No one was going to tell her what to think and she was going to question everything. I miss her dearly.

Magical Discoveries

This book is absolute delight. Claire is a wonderful storyteller and weaves in tales about celebrities and their signs to bring the characteristics of the Zodiac to life. I have to say, as a Capricorn, she read me to filth. The good, the bad and all the in-between. I’ve never felt more understood.
