Published in 2022 by Rockpool Publishing, Tarot of the Sorceress: A Witch's Wheel of the Year is the work of French artist and illustrator Bérengère Demoncy. Drawn entirely in black, white, and warm beige with metallic-highlighted printing and gilt edges, this deck takes the bones of traditional tarot and reshapes them around a pagan, seasonal spirituality — the Wheel of the Year, the sabbats, the moon cycles, and the elements that move through all of it.
The imagery is dark, moody, and ethereal, woven through with botany, sacred geometry, and the human form. Every card is rendered in intricate detail, not just the Majors, which makes this a genuinely new way to look at the tarot. Drawn from both Rider-Waite-Smith and Marseille traditions, the four suits are renamed for their elements — Air, Water, Fire, and Earth — and the courts follow the Marseille order, with the Knight reimagined as the King's Messenger. A striking, beautiful deck for readers ready to slow down and look closer.
